Looking Good in Photos Without Relying on Over Editing
When the mercury begins to rise, the desire to look good over the warmer months gets people thinking about body image.
The most common question I get asked as a photographer when I am photographing people is "Can you photoshop me ........?" to look thinner, to look younger, to look taller, to remove lines, to re-colour my hair, to thin out arms/legs, etc.
This question is most often asked before a photo shoot has even commenced! Before people have even looked at the photo!
I believe editing can be overused until the image becomes a picture rather than a real photograph. While it may alter the picture, excessive photo editing does not build confidence and create a healthy self-image. Acceptance of natural beauty becomes overshadowed by the pursuit of perfection. We should remember that true beauty starts from within.
There are a few points worth considering if you are concerned about how you will appear in photographs:
It is important to believe in yourself and have a positive outlook around your body image.
